The Slacker's Guide to the Tegal Sari

What we have here is the story of my stay at the Tegal Sari in Ubud on the Island of Bali. More than anything else, this webpage serves to display some photos. Yes, there'll be some text added which will range from the mindless, at worst, to the moderately interesting. Hey, nobody promised you a rose garden, did they?

Anyway, I went to Ubud via a transit bus from Sanur. My plan, if you'll excuse the overstatement, was to sightsee and goof off. The trip from Sanur wound through the hills and the temperature dropped off as we climbed up from sea level. I got off the bus and asked where the hotel was, getting a nice surprise when I found that the Tegal Sari is close to the bus terminal. So, I legged it over there and checked in.

This is the view from my patio.

I enjoyed the view above often. I spent my days and nights afoot, running around Ubud and its locale. I would often end up back at my patio, resting up with a Bintang beer in my fist. Overall, that's a relaxing way to spend the holiday.

The hotel is nice. It should be, when you consider that I spent a million Rupiah to stay there for a few days. Actually, a million Rupia is not much money, but it makes me sound like a big shot so I have to report it here. The location is set back from the road, so it's relatively quiet. The pool is nice, it's surrounded by rice fields and the water isn't choked with chemicals the way that so many hotel pools are. The café is just Ok but you can get a bite there and look out over a serene little water garden. It's not bad at all.
